Poutine, Butter Tarts and More: Canada’s Comfort Foods
A delicious tour of the dishes Canadians love, province by province.

Canadian food is hearty, cozy and proudly regional.
Québec gave the world poutine — fries, cheese curds and gravy — plus tourtière and maple taffy on snow. Ontario loves butter tarts and peameal bacon sandwiches, and B.C. claims the Nanaimo bar.
The Prairies are known for perogies and Saskatoon berry pie, while the Maritimes serve lobster, donairs and fresh seafood chowder.
